Sharif University holds mourning ceremony for Kerman terror victims
TEHRAN- A mourning ceremony was held at Sharif University in Tehran to honor the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Kerman.
Ali Bahadori Jahromi, spokesman for the Iranian government, was among the attendees.
During the ceremony, participants held a moment of silence and lit candles in memory of the fallen. A group of students also voiced their demands for justice and retribution for the perpetrators of the heinous act.
84 people were killed and 284 others were injured in two explosions taking place in the southeastern Iranian city of Kerman, as the country marks the 4th martyrdom anniversary of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.
The blasts were heard in quick succession near the general’s tomb. Shortly after the explosive incidents, rescue teams were dispatched to the scene to help the injured.
The Iranian Intelligence Ministry issued a statement late on Friday saying nine persons have been arrested in connection to the Wednesday terrorist attacks in the southeastern city of Kerman.
The nine were arrested on Wednesday evening after the elements who transferred the suicide bombers to Iran were identified, the ministry said, adding one of the suicide bombers is a national of Tajikistan and the identity of the second one is still unknown.
Also, in the early morning of Thursday, the residing place of the two suicide bombers was found on the outskirts of Kerman and then two persons who provided logistics for them and gave sanctuary to them were arrested.
In the search operation, 9 members of the terrorist team were apprehended in six provinces.
